What if one of the most important street photographers of the 20th century was a 1950s children’s nanny who kept herself to herself and never showed a single one of her photographs to anyone?

Decades later in 2007, a Chicago real estate agent and historical hobbyist, John Maloof purchased a box of never-seen, never-developed film negatives of an unknown ‘amateur’ photographer for $380 at his local auction house.

John began developing his new collection of photographs, some 100,000 negatives in total, that had been abandoned in a storage locker in Chicago before they ended up at the auction house. It became clear these were no ordinary street snaps of 1950s & 60s Chicago and New York and so John embarked on a journey to find out who was behind the photographs and soon discovered her name: Vivien Maier.

If you subscribe to the theory that Karkat is a limeblood with a mutated pigment gene making his blood candy red, then this could lend insight into what was the special ability the limebloods possessed that prompted the upper class to eliminate them

they may have been especially good at pacifying the upper class, or in other words, they made amazing moirails.

And were killed off because the upper class WANTED to be violent and power hungry, and felt threatened by the limebloods ability to make them more mild

That would also make a pattern. Most of the cannonically most effective moirails are midbloods with some shade of green as their blood.

Perhaps this same power was used to simmer down Eridan’s genocidal tendencies. Feferi wore herself out trying to keep him in line, but Karkat seemed to effortlessly shift Eridan’s disposition to that of friendlier tone.

This. I can start the day off pretty well, but if it’s a day that involve stressers toward the evening, I spend all morning thinking about it and getting worked up because of my anxiety issues. By the time I make it through getting my shit together and completing the stress-thing, I’m completely worn out. I will get a headache, I’ll be exhausted, my body will ache. Sometimes, it even starts during the thing, which is really bad. In some cases, I’ll even be wiped out the next day.

And I should share this around, because I’m often told I’m ‘not trying hard enough’ and I’m ‘being lazy’ and other such deprecating things, and that makes things much worse.

i grew up being held responsible for my failure to thrive. finding out that adhd and high-verbal autism are Things for me gave me an explanation but didn’t undo the damage. looking back, i was expending so much willpower just trying to think through the noise and talk through my overload, it’s not at all surprising i didn’t ‘work up to my potential’.
